Associate is designed for those who wish to benefit from the services and activities offered by the Association but who have not yet attained the National Clinical Coding Qualification. The Association recognises that not every clinical coder will wish to formally qualify. Becoming an Associate does not confer voting rights.
As an Associate you will have opportunities to develop your career particularly in the form of support towards attaining the National Clinical Coding Qualification. To join as an Associate you will need to be currently working as a trainee clinical coder, clinical coder, or clinical coding manager/supervisor, or be working within the Health Informatics Arena. You must also agree to abide by the Associations Code of Ethics and to uphold the Association's Standards for the professional Practice of Clinical Coding. The importance of keeping abreast of the latest best practice is paramount.
Association ensures your connection to a professional source of knowledge, advice on the latest best practice and the opportunity to raise and discuss queries and problems.
Association creates networking opportunities. By allowing for the exchange and comparison of practical experience, Association provides insight into the ways in which your peers are responding to the challenges of clinical coding, coding audit, coding training, information governance and other Health Informatics challenges. Associates will enjoy priority booking for Association events.
As recognition of the status conferred through the achievement of the National Clinical Coding Qualification, qualified members become eligible to have their say in the governance of the Association. Voting members participate in the process of shaping policy that will lead the Association and the clinical coding profession into the future. Voting members will have input into how the Association is governed and the opportunity to sit on the PACC(UK) Council. Full members will enjoy priority booking for Association events and access to full members only events.
The Award of Fellowship
The award of Fellowship is open to any associate or member of the Association provided that they have made an exceptional contribution both to the Association and to the development of the clinical coding profession nationally or internationally.
Honorary membership may be bestowed on any person who has benefited the profession by their services or support. Honorary members shall pay no annual subscription and unless elected to the council shall not have voting rights. Those honorary members that are elected to the Council will have voting rights at the Council.
